Let’s hope New York’s mascot really can give them the wings their caffeine laden energy drink claims it can provide. Despite their streak of draws being broken by their defeat of Kansas City, Galaxy is high on their own energy source, we call the winning streak.
Yet, New York does currently hold 3rd place in the Eastern Conference and Kansas City now trail by five points. In addition, Galaxy is not totally out of the woods in their quest to playoff glory. The team must beat or tie New York to stay in contention for the playoffs. Can good ol’ Becks help them achieve this dream? Apparently he is on the bench as a sub for the game today, but the starting line-up will not be adjusted for the English star now that he could possibly be back from injury. Galaxy is four points behind the two teams, Kansas City and Chicago, who hold the last playoff spot?
Sunday is the final game of league play for the MLS, in which L.A. will ironically be playing Chicago in their home stadium, Toyota Park, as Galaxy struggle to keep this same team from taking their spot in the playoffs.
