From Buzzine.com:
“The Writers Guild of America and its 12,000 members has announced that it will go on strike Monday against studios and networks.
The official announcement came at a news conference at WGA West headquarters in Los Angeles, following approvals in Friday meetings by the WGA West board and the WGA East Council.
Talks between the WGA and the companies broke down on Wednesday — a few hours before the contract expired — over the issue of DVD residuals and work for the Internet. No new talks have been scheduled.
The strike announcement follows a unanimous recommendation by the Guild’s negotiating committee. WGA leaders told 3,000 members of the strike plans Thursday night at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
In voting several weeks ago, WGA members gave a 90% endorsement to authorize their leaders to call a strike if no agreement could be reached.”
Take that, greedy studio execs! Now you won’t have anyone to mangle your half-baked stories! Now if only Michael Mann would strike… Wait, no. I mean: If only Michael Mann would be struck. In the head. With a crowbar. Repeatedly.

Michael Mann - I can’t say he doesn’t deserve it. But what’s your grudge? (If I can ask?)

Have you seen Miami Vice?
That film is reason alone to be dragged out into the street and summarily shot like a dog.
And just in case you haven’t seen it and are tempted to rent for the “omigawd it’s so bad” cheese factor, that’s not why it’s bad. Oh god, that would have made it a GOOD film.
No, Miami Vice is essentially a two hour (I’m only assuming the film is two hours long… It felt more like 6 days of penitence for all my life’s sins) of a character study of Collin Farrell and what’s his face.
There are about 2 action scenes in the ENTIRE film, the dialog is mind-numbing, the characters boring and wooden (much like their accompanying performances), the film never goes anywhere… It’s as compelling as watching paint dry, without the accompanying high from the fumes.
No, Miami Vice is a crime against humanity, an offense before man and God, a violation of my human rights. It is excrement made sight and sound.
::whew:: that felt good.
