Did you know that LA County uses over 6 billion plastic bags every year? And of those, only 5% is recycled?
Well Heal The Bay is doing it’s part to raise awareness, and the rest is up to us. Today is officially a plastic bag-free day.
So plan your orgiastic consumerist frenzy a little wiser by ditching the plastic bag and bringing along reusable totes.
They’re even doing giveaways, so read the official announcement and then help save the world.
It’s so much easier to incorporate reusable bags into your daily shopping routine. Get several, leave them in your trunk, and as you bring them into your house with groceries, just walk them back to your car next time you go shopping.
Or we could just ban them outright like San Francisco.

This is so awesome! I’m so glad LA is doing this. I just made a post in my blog about the use of the really cool traditional Japanese furoshiki, a way to use a piece of cloth to wrap parcels and/or carry them around.
