Charlie Wilson’s War - With Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Texas Congressman (Tom Hanks) likes two things booz and broads. He almost lost his career over two girls in a hot tub. Yet he made it through and oversaw the most powerful and successful CIA operations in all history. This move has a stunning cast and has already been nominated for everything. Hope it’s as good as it looks.
National Treasure: Book of Secrets - With Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, Helen Mirren, Ed Harris, Alicia Coppola, Bruce Greenwood. At least they got the cast right, I don’t know about what else. They’re still looking for treasure. This has never been one of my favorite series and I doubt this one will surprise me.
P.S. I Love You - With Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Lisa Kudrow, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gina Gershon, James Marsters, Harry Connick Jr. This one is definitely a cryer. Holly Kennedy is married to the love of her life Gerry who gets sick and dies. Gerry knows her better than anyone so he leaves her a series of letters, tapes and more to help her through his death. Each one ends with “PS I love you.” Soon her friends and family start to worry about her, but she thinks he helps her. Serious downer.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street - With Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall, Anthony Head. Adapted from the award winning, musical thriller. Depp is a man unjustly sent to prison and his family is murdered. He vows revenge and becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who “shaved the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again.†Look at the cast, watch the trailer, of course I’ll be there.
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story - Co-written and produced by Judd Apatow (who brought us Talladega Nights and Anchorman). With the tag-line “America loves Cox” do I really need to say anything?
