My dear mother turned me on to Paperbackswap about a year ago. I had this bad habit of wandering into Barnes & Noble and buying four books at a time. This site saves me mucho dinero and it keeps me from being a conspicuous consumer. I feel all eco and stuff. Recycling books, what a concept.
How it works is that you go on the site and post 10 books you are willing to swap. This gets you 2 free credits. Every time another member requests one of your books, you mail it to them, earning you another free credit.
The website provides the packaging and you can even print out the postage if you want. It tells you exactly how much it costs to mail the book and you can send it off from your own mailbox. Then, you pick what books you want from over a million posted books and the other member sends it to you. That’s it. Easy, right? It’s like eBay for books if eBay always worked right. It ends up costing around 2 dollars per book and all the books are in great condition.
Yours truly has already mailed off 25 books and received 22. Mother is so proud. The website says I’ve saved 99 bucks so far, based on current used book prices but I’m sure it’s much more than that w/current Barnes & Noble prices. Smart, huh? Plus, it’s fun to get books in the mail, yo. Do yourself a favor and join good ole’ Paperback Swap. You’ll save money and feel intelligent and whatnot.
