It is 2008, and while we are all making our Coachella wish lists, there are plenty of good shows to see in the mean time. There are many shows in the next three months already on sale, and several going on sale this weekend. All shows are available through Ticketmaster.com or through the venue itself. So here it is!

The Wiltern is just about the hottest spot in February, with four sales going on this Saturday at 10am. Scott Wylan and Velvet Revolver will play on the 6^th. You can buy pre- sale tickets today at 10am. Also, Rufus Wainwright will play on the 12^th and the Hives on the 19^th. And with two dates at the end of the month, it’s Marilyn Manson (featured) on 22^nd and 23^rd, in such a small venue, it is sure to be a spectacle and should not be missed.

Some old school rock will go down at the Henry Fonda theatre. The New York Dolls will get freaky on March 7^th, those tickets go on sale this Saturday as well. Siouxie will be there February 15^th and 16^th, and then at the House of Blues in Anaheim on the 13^th.

Also, playing the House of Blues is Social Distortion. They have over a dozen dates there in the next two months. Wyclef Jean will play in Anaheim on February 6th, then on Sunset February 8^th. G Love and Special Sauce will be playing on Sunset on the 15^th. Two of the worlds greatest DJ’s, Shadow and Cut Chemist (featured right), will play in Anaheim on Valentine’s Day and the Wiltern on the 15th. That one is the show of the month if you ask me. Go even if you have never heard of them, you will not regret it.

The big names at the big venues include Lenny Kravitz at the Santa Monica Civic Centeron January 17^th, Garth Brooks at the Staples Center on January 25th, Willie Nelson at the Nokia Center on February 13^th, Billy Joel at the Honda Center on February 23^rd, and the Foo Fighters at the Forum on March 5^th. They may be sold out, but do not let that stop you from getting in. There are always more ways, try Ebay.com, Criagslist.com, or even tickets from the venue (wait for it to just about start, then make a really low offer.)

Looking for hip-hop? Then why would you go see the Kottonmouth Kings at the Key Club? They play the 18^th and 19^th of this month. For actual hip-hop, see KRS-One (featured left) at the Roxy on January 18^th, a far superior show and an educational experience. Also, Talib Kweli will play at the Grove on January 24^th, and on Sunset at the House of Blues on the 25^th. He is a true MC and always a great show. Dead Prez will also play the Key Club on February 29^th.

Alternative bands have their place too. The Blackheart Procession, a band that became 3 Mile Pilot, then Pinback, will play at Spaceland on the 11^th of January, the Glasshouse February 7^th and the Avalon on the February 21^st. And the Mars Volta will play at UCI on January 31^st to wrap up one fine month of music.
