Not sure if you’ve heard or not (joking!), but the Golden Globes are cancelled, to be replaced by a fun and oh-so-exciting news conference. For someone who barely cares which star wins the kind of cumbersome statuette (the Emmys ® are so much prettier), but more about what kind of black tie combinations come floating down the red carpet, my January just may be ruined.
Sure, I can look at this from a more accurate financial situation—the florists! The caterers! The DJ’s at the after party! Who is going to pay them? How many weddings and bar mitzvahs will they have to pander to in order to feed their children? But what about those people who are really going to suffer—the Karl Lagerfeld-s, and the Alber Elbaz-es who have worked tirelessly from their mansions and Parisian studios to bring us evening gowns and, if their creativity so decides, purses and shoes that make life worth living?
So, I will now peruse the runway images at Style.com, and Men.Style.Com to tell you what the stars and starlets would be wearing, should the show miraculously go on.
(Featured) Couture by Elie Saab. For Ellen Page. Perfect, young, but utterly sophisticated.

Armani Prive. Cate Blanchett, if she isn’t showing too much by now.

Zac Posen, Pre-Fall collection. Ideal for Marion Cotillard

DSquared Spring ’08. Johnny Depp, anyone?

Moschino, Spring ’08. With a more subdued bow tie, this would probably work on Viggo Mortenson.
But I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the Oscars.
