So what is it? LA’s very own upgrade to the infamous”roach-coach”: The Green Truck!

I first encountered this glorious thing outside the Doll Factory for a Derby Dolls game. It certainly smelled delicious, but having already eaten dinner, I hardly paid it a second glance. In hindsight, I wish I had:

“There are currently two Green Trucks servicing several cities in LA, and both trucks run off vegetable oil previously used by the company and other food service companies in the Los Angeles area. All of the food packaging, containers, bags, napkins, and utensils are made from biocompostable products rather than plastics and Styrofoam. This process generates zero trash and utilizes sustainable technologies that minimize pollution in the production process.

The gourmet cuisine that is offered from Green Truck is not your average “health” food. The mouth-watering recipes have been created by Beth Creasey, a former cook at LA’s hot restaurant AOC. All of the food is prepared at the company’s solar powered commissary in Culver City, which allows Green Truck to add whatever clean energy they don’t use to the city’s power supply.”

Seriously awesome. It’s good for you. It’s good for the city. It’s good the environment. And it’s just plain good. I mean come on, even their kitchen is solar powered!

Kudos to these guys!

But it gets cooler! They cater!! So next time you’re organizing a photo shoot / warehouse party / art opening / drug-fueled orgy, make sure to call these guys up to have some healthy tasty food on hand. It’s one of the details that stays with people, an attention to detail that really sets you apart.

Check out some of their recent press coverage: YourLA on KNBC, Fox and BizBash. You can also head to their website and find out where the trucks are going to be (don’t be fooled by the truck floating off the coast of Ghana, just use the pulldown for something a little… closer).

Let’s make a future where every construction site, film shoot and late-night club has one of these on-site!
