  • Motorcyclist killed in collision with big rig - A man in his mid 40’s riding a Harley-Davidson was struck by a big rig and was killed. The  accident happened in Athens Village in LA at 12:29pm last night. The victims name has not been releases.
  • Two People were injured when their car was struck by a Metro Train- Violet Youssef of Pasadena and a 20-year-old passenger were transported to USC Medical Center with a minor back injury after they drove their Lexus under the lowered gates and unto the tracks. The vehicle was struck on the right front passenger door at about 30 mph and the car received major damage but both passengers were let pretty much unharmed.
  • Arrest made on hit-and-run driver from yesterday - Yesterday a 43-year-old mother and her two daughters 19 and 16-years old, were transported to three separate hospitals after a driver hit the three women crossing the street and fled the scene of the crime. All women are currently in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Walter Duarte, 25. Witnesses reported the silver Toyota Corolla yesterday and the car was found abandoned not far from the scene. The car had not been stolen and they found Duarte at home after discovering he had been in La County Jail for hit and run charges before and released.

  • Freeway gang killer to be convicted today - D’andre Keyshaun Moorer, 29, will be sentenced today for the gang-related killing of Michael Ryan Livingston, 20 year old man along the 110 freeway in 2005. Moorer faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.  Moorer has already been convicted of firs-degree murder after he shot Livingston in the head after thinking he saw him making gang-hand-signs while driving.
  • This is it for our Pelicans, we’ve killed them - The birds of Lake Balboa have had to survive through tangled fishing line, kite string, and many other waste left behind by humans. But just yesterday something shot an arrow through a beak of a pelican. Rescue workers have not been able to catch the poor bird is now doomed because it is unable to open his mouth and unable to eat. “We are asking for the public’s help,” said Jeff Hall, marine mammal coordinator at the California Wildlife Center in Calabasas, “All he needs is basically to be captured, the arrow removed.”  If you see the bird please contact the California Wildlife Center, International Bird Rescue Research Center or the Los Angeles Animal Services Department.
