V-Day: Antioch University 2008 Presents a benefit performance of: The Vagina Monologues. The benefit will take place February 22nd at 8 pm and February 23rd at 7 pm located 400 Corporate Pointe Culver City 90230. To purchase tickets please visit: brownpapertickets.com. Organized by the Universities Student Action Network, the play is directed, produced and acted out by students. All proceeds will go to two Non-Profit Organizations working to stop the violence towards women and children.
The statistics are frightening: every year the number of women sexually or physically abused grows exponentially. Mass rape is a common war tool designed to destroy entire communities by destroying their women.
The Platform for Action adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women declared that rape in armed conflict is a war crime — and could, under certain circumstances, be considered genocide.
Female mutilation STILL exists in many countries. In China women are still ‘trapped’ by the birth of a girl and once verified, chose to abort before the baby can be born.
“There is a deplorable trend towards the organized humiliation of women, including the crime of mass rape”, the Secretary-General said. “We will press for international legal action against those who perpetrate organized violence against women in time of conflict.” Support the benefit fundraiser and purchase tickets to watch The Vagina Monologues.
