If you need to buy a gift for someone under the age of 5, rush over to Paulina Quintana in Silver Lake. The clothes are cool, cute and different. Plus, they don’t say Old Navy or Baby Gap anywhere on them! Everything in the store is hip. You could pretty much just close your eyes and grab something and the parents will be thrilled. Because it’s hardly ever busy, Paulina Quintana is a breeze to shop. The salespeople leave you alone until you’re ready to buy. The sizes are clearly marked and they frequently have sales.
For little boys, I recommend the printed shirts or the newsboy caps. The tiny dude will look like a mini-Brad Pitt, minus the botox and the freaky girlfriend. For little girls, you can find everything from peasant tops to dresses. Onesies are always a good bet for both sexes, as are the baseball tees. My nephews sport these frequently in Texas and my sister is constantly having to explain to other mothers that, no, you cannot buy the shirts in the greater Dallas area. (Nannynannybooboo, Texas moms.) So, if you have little loved ones out-of-state, consider dropping by this gem of a store and getting them something they can’t get at Walmart. They’ll thank you for it when they’re looking back on pictures and their clothes don’t suck.
