  • Big Rig Flips on the 101 - In Winnetka this morning a big rig flipped over this morning at 6am, causing several cars to crash, because of the rain and caused traffic to back up for nearly 4 miles. There are no reports of injuries, but 3 lanes of traffic have been shut down.
  • Despite Federal Reserve cuts, stocks continue to plummet - There was an emergency interest rate cut this morning as the Federal Reserve tried to counter the increasing fear over the global economy.  Stocks plunged as the Dow Jones industrial average sank more than 400 points in the opening minutes, and the market still remains in the red. “As of 9:55 a.m. Eastern time, the Dow was off 307.19 points, or 2.5%, to 11,792.11. The Nasdaq composite index fell 64.38 points, or 2.8%, to 2,275.64.”
  • Rain expected to hit throughout the week - The rain, which started last night should be back tonight and stay until Saturday. Thunderstorms, hail, and flash floods are expected all day tomorrow. Bundle up, it’s gonna start getting cold (for LA).
  • Police sergeant enters plea on drug charges - Sgt Alvaro Murilla, 44, aka “El Padrino” (The Grandfather), of West Covina, and his informant Albert Del Real-Gallardo, 40, aka “Panzon” (Fat Man), of Palmdale, were arrested last week and today will enter their pleas on charges of stealing cocaine and marijuana from drug dealers. Apparently they tried to rip-off “five kilograms of cocaine in Nov 2002; 250 pounds of marijuana in Feb 2003; 250 pounds of marijuana in August 2003; 160 pounds of marijuana in early 2004; and 90 pounds of marijuana in April 2004- and Murillo also allegedly tried to steal cocaine from an undercover U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration”.
  • David Wakefield Hassler, a religious studies teachers enters plea in child porn case - Hassler, 62, teaches at Mayfield Senior School of the Holy Child Jesus, was arrested for downloading child pornography on the Internet. On Nov. 28th law enforcement received a warrant for his house and found numerous printed images of alleged child pornography. If guilty he faces up to 10 years in jail.
