There comes a point where you really run out of things to do on a Saturday night. You’ve been to the movies, you’ve gone shopping, you’ve eaten at the newest, hippest, trendiest hot spot L.A has to offer. You’ve even gone as far as going bowling, and although spending weekends relaxing at home is sometimes the best way to go about it, you want more. You wanted to be taken out tonight, where there’s music and there’s people and they’re young and alive, to quote my one of my all time favorite people, Morrissey.
Let’s face it. You want to karaoke. C’mon. Admit it. Your 15 minutes of shining glory and fame are waiting for you in one of L.A’s many karaoke hot spots this weekend.
Karaoke, which comes from the Japanese “kara” meaning empty and “okesutora” meaning orchestra was popularized in Japan and initially ended up spreading to Asia during the 1980s, and finally made its way to the U.S in the 1990s.
You might be surprised to find out that Los Angeles has quite the collection of karaoke bars placed around the city, as well as a place where you can have your own private karaoke party.

Equally interesting is their alcohol-free policy. Happy hour runs from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday where the flat rate room charge is dropped and eager singers pay a discounted rate per person.

Over-priced drinks (and a 2-drink minimum) but fun with tons of songs
The Drawing Room
