Koreatown is quite a wondrous place. Delicious Tofu houses, fantastic BBQ… And then there’s The Prince…
$750 bottle of scotch. Decor straight out of the cheesiest English pub. And food that doesn’t F around.
We checked out some of their more adventurous fare for your sake, dear readers. And while it may look easy, it’s really not… We’re just professionals.
Once again we found ourselves confronted with bugs. Silk worms to be exact. And while they may not look any more intimidating than the crickets or, god forbid, the waterbugs… There’s something about them. Perhaps the fact that they’re served in a stew-like liquid? Or their sheer quantity? Or the smell? In any case, I found almost as hard to eat as the waterbug. The taste certainly lingered just as long, and I found myself having to swing by Jumbo’s for a couple shots of Jack Daniels to help ease me through the night.
Bugs aside, we also supped upon sliced tripe and roast chicken gizzards.
I’ve had tripe in the past, albeit Filipino style (which is actually quite tasty). There’s something about eating tripe straight-up, without any sauce or any accouterments (no, salad doesn’t count). It makes it really hardcore. That stuff is rubbery as hell, and doesn’t have any particularly pleasant flavor on it’s own. Similar to Octopus, minus the ocean aftertaste.
And the gizzards, well they just have a downright unpleasant texture. Tough. Very tough. And with a hint of liver.
Overall, this experience might not look like much but ranked for me as one of the toughest so far, although this place must be commended for decor. If anything, you have to go have a drink there. It’s just too awesome not to.
But watch for yourself:

so how come the food doesn’t match the decor?

That place is confusing…it looked like you should have been eating steak and potatoes…hat’s off to you, I would have been a definite no with the worm soup.
