La Buca (Officially) Re-opening Monday!

February 16th, 2008 Written by: Louis· 3 Comments

Pasta 20080215It’s been a long and arduous wait for the best kept secret on the East Side.

Everyone’s favorite Osteria, La Buca, will be having it’s official re-opening this coming Monday!

Whooooo!

Of course the event is invite-only, so if you didn’t know by now you’ll have to wait until Tuesday. Well, that’s assuming they’re not already completely booked up. They’ve actually been unofficially open for a little while now.

I was fortunate enough to dine there on Valentine’s Day (I somehow - miraculously - had the foresight to book a reservation nearly a month beforehand… Amazing!), and I can tell you that the overhaul is significant. Gone is the quaint and cramped little hole-in-the-wall. What they have now would seem much more at place in New York. Stark wood, exposed ceiling, massive wine bar (although apparently they’re getting their liquor license on Monday?)… To be perfectly honest I kind of miss the old little place, although they have a spiffy-looking upstairs area I didn’t get to check out on V-Day, so perhaps that will make up for it?

Overall there’s so much more room that you actually have a decent chance of getting a table now… Well, after the initial surge dies down. And best of all you no longer need to buy your wine at the crappy liquor store next door!

Oh, and for those of you still unaware of La Buca, the only thing I can tell you is this:

Call them right now and book a table for as soon as you can. It’s worth it.

Ah, Mr. Louis! You have let the secret out! This is truly the finest Italian cuisine in Hollywood.

This place is west of Western in area called Hollywood. Yes, it is the east side of Hollywood but it is not the East Side. The East Side is east of the Los Angeles River.

In my world, anything east of the Beverly Hills Hotel is the “east side”. I grew up in Venice. Anything east of Pasadena / the 710 ceases to be LA in my book.
