What, Why and How to Get Rid of Headache

headache-by-mrsmaze.jpgFive Reasons of Your Headache.

No, it’s not the traffic jam, which I would rate number one reason for my daily headache. However, as much as exhaustion and stress are the most typical explanations for our headache, there more and we might have not a clue about them. Smells, weather, food, what you wear on your head, and sex all effect how your head feels.

The question we all have, how should we get rid of this headache, besides consuming a daily dose of Advil?

PERFUME

Having a sharp sight – it’s an obvious plus, but what about a sharp sense? Most likely it is a minus. Apparently the “owners” of a sharp sense suffer a great deal from their sense “talent” – sharp senses of any kind, from perfume to dog’s poop lead to very strong headaches, even head-spinning and nausea. This can last anywhere from a few minutes to a day. The strong aromas activate the nervous cells of the nose that irritate the overall nervous system, and what’s worse, the most pleasurable scents act on the sensitivity the worst.

What to do:

So, try to avoid the proximity of too many people women who all wear individual scents, scented detergents of any kind, air fresheners, and scented soups and shampoos.

WEATHER

We, the LA locals, can’t really complain about the weather. It’s probably one of the major reasons we all live here (omit the dream to make it in Hollywood and become the next “IT”…) However, when the weather changes, so is the pressure of atmosphere and air – and it does affect our nervous system.

I just recalled how the week of rain and fog made me miserable, I wanted to sleep and I was opposed to any outdoor activities, even when it included only a 4-min car drive from my place to the next-door restaurant. LA is a lazy city – we are too laid back and we love our cars too much to walk one block to a newsstand for a morning issue of LA Times.

And some people are more sensitive to the weather changes than others. They even have a medical term for such people – “people - thermometer.” And the reason we had the headaches when the weather changes is due to the fact that the weather changes “knock up” chemical and electrical rhythms of our brain works and irritate nervous system.

What to do:

Watch the weather forecast and a day or two before the “bad weather”, take ibuprofen, suggests doctor Mark Green, Columbia University. And on the day of the bad weather – make a cold eye compress. Check out local weather at KTLA.com

EARRINGS

If you are one of those that feel the brain is leaking out of your head, because the headache is unbearable, think twice before wearing earrings, ear clips, headbands, hats and even hair crunches can give you major headache.

What to do:
The muscle groups around your skull do not have nerve endings and it is not sensitive to pain, however, it’s connecting issue is the epicenter of nerves and sensitivity. So, if you tie your ponytail with a hair crunch very hard, you could possibly destroy those connecting issues and that causes a headache. The scientists also assume that the head skin is no less sensitive and its irritation can lead to a migraine.

HUNGER

It never ceases to amaze me how many people choose to be on a diet in Hollywood, with a cup of yogurt to live by every day. So, listen good, ladies and gentlemen. Hunger will never lead to a good. One of many problems you may experience is a headache. If you do not eat, the level of sugar in your blood fells. This stimulates and leads to a migraine.

What to do:

However, this effect is not yet proven completely, but I choose to believe it, because I do get a headache when I skip my lunch. So in short, you should eat! But try to avoid caffeine and chocolate, and eat more real food like cheese, bread, meat, and butter.

SEX

What scientists have talked about is “not having sex”, but more in the tune of “why we get headaches when we have sex.”

Apparently, we can get headaches at any moment during the intercourse and it can last from a few minutes to an hour. The reason – during sex, our blood pressure increase, our pulse beats faster, our muscles contract and we stress the muscles of our face and neck. The process of sex can be compared to any physical activity, which at the gym might lead to a headache. So, what you do to avoid the migraine of “sex”, the doctors say – some over the counter pain medicine, such as Ibuprofen and aspirin could do the trick.

However, please do remember, if you have headaches every time you have sex, it might a serious health condition, called aneurysm and it cannot usually be easily diagnosed. But when you get a headache during a workout at the gym, do not be concerned. Just take a small break and change to a different exercise of lesser intensity.
