The race is reaching popular culture in new ways - Jon Stewart talked about Barack “Hussein” Obama at the Oscar’s, SNL led with a bit on the debates and Tina Fey’s quote “bitches get stuff done” is now on t-shirts everywhere.
Clinton and Obama continue in their battle to win the delegates. Obama seems to be building momentum and the people are following. Clinton started out on top but recently has bee having a bit of trouble since her campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle dropped out of the race to be with her family and Senior Cpl. Victor Lozada-Tirado, a member of Clinton’s motorcade was killed in a motorcycle accident. As they stand right now Obama has 1,369 delegates and Clinton has 1,267. The Texas primary is next Tuesday, which may make or break either candidate on their race to get 2,025.
One thing is for sure, the turn out for these primaries have been amazing and who ever wins will be breaking new ground in Presidential elections. Young people are not only voting for who they are told is the better candidate, they are informing themselves and helping to spread their knowledge in a very positive way.
Videos below the jump:
Here is a video of a young African American man who shows a rude and judgemental cameraman that he is fully well educated about Obama’s campaign and wants to talk calmly and politely about the issues at hand. Often people immediately jump to conclusions (like the man behind the camera) and in response a heated debate will begin. I am truly impressed by the way that this man is able to not only stay calm, but also make his point and in the end change the (rude) mans opinions by using his knowledge. He is truly an inspiration to MANY of us out there who find ourselves believing that people will never change and that there is no ways for two people from different parties can’t rationally discuss politics. I would love to see more of this kind of dialogue continue in the news, in coffee shops, everywhere. If this is the future of America, then maybe there is some hope.
To balance my argument, it is not just Obama supporters that feel this way, but Clinton supporters as well. Many Clinton supporters are downloading videos everyday onto Hillaryspeaksforme.com to talk to others about the issues that are effecting them in their everyday lives. Different people, from all walks of life, are sharing their love for Clinton, and here is one young woman who is passionate about the good that Clinton could do.
