Sports Report: More Undefeated Talk

LA CityZine sports report- brady 08-02-28What’s going on with sports this year? Why is there so much interest in a team or player going undefeated in a season? It all started with the Patriots. They have a brush with greatness and now everyone wants to see someone go undefeated. I understand that, yes it would be cool if it actually happened, but enough with trying to predict an undefeated season in every sport. Next thing you know the Yankees win their first 5 games out of 162 and they’re going undefeated.

The next victim of having an undefeated season thrust upon them is Tiger Woods. He wins his first two tournaments (out of the seventeen that he has to play) and all of sudden he can go undefeated. Doesn’t anyone realize how hard that would be to accomplish? It’s hard to do in team sports, imagine in golf where it’s you against 70-80 players. I doubt very much that it will happen. Tiger Woods will be known as the best golfer when his time is done, but it won’t be for an undefeated season. It will be for the most tour wins and the most major wins ever.

The Lakers are starting to convince me that they are a major player for championship glory and they can only get better once Bynum returns. They are 10-1 since Gasol was traded to them and they seem to be hitting their stride. Like I said before they do have a weak schedule the rest of the way and as impressed as I have been I can only see disaster once the playoff are here.

LA CityZine sports report- Slice 08-02-28In the mean time the Lakers were hosting the weak Miami Heat on Thursday. As expected they whooped on them like there was no tomorrow 106-88. The surprising news is that Farmar has had two spectacular games in a row. He was the leading scorer with 24 points, Kobe had 21 points and Odom had a nice double double with 13 points and 11 assists.

The Dodgers played their first Spring Training on Thursday. With one out in the bottom of 9th John Lindsey hit a clutch two run single to seal the come from behind victory for the Dodgers.

In other exciting news CBS has decided to show 4 MMA fights a year. With the first being headlined by the scary Kimbo Slice. Man is he huge and intimidating; If I was in the ring with him I think I would just soil myself and I wouldn’t be ashamed of it.
