Ever been pulled over by a cop and said one of the following: “I’m so sorry, I normally always stop there,” “I promise I’ll never do it again,” or simply teared up and said “my _____ is going to be so mad at me!” But, what you were really thinking was something much, much worse? Well ladies and gentlemen, there is now a place where can say whatever you want without being hit by a club or taken to jail, visit RateMyCop.com!
A Culver City couple, started a database with over 120,000 policemen in over 1,000 departments nationwide, designed so users can give cringing, anonymous appraisals of individual officer performance. All you have to do is, get the name and badge number the next time you inevitably have a run in with a police officer. Then go to the site, select a state, the department, and then find your officer! You can answer a brief questionnaire and give them a rating of 1-5 from “Callous/Cold” to “Exceptional/Good” (Don’t know how many times the latter will get selected) and then leave a brief comment.
Though it’s vetted for inappropriate language/threats, there’s also a comment field, where you can give your account of the encounter: “I wasn’t actually speedingâ€, or “As he wrote up my noise complaint, he kindly ignored the bong.†Since RMC has just launched, there are not that many comments yet, so do your part as an angry/happy/stoned citizen and tell your friends and make a comment! Myself, I like this new trend of being able to get information about those around you.
http://www.ratemycoworkers.com/ and http://www.rottenneighbor.com/ are two other good sites that let you rate those that you deal with on a daily basis.
The VAST majority of police officers are good people who sacrifice a lot for their profession and for their communities. I don’t think that a site like this takes away from that, matter of fact, I feel that it gives many of them the recognition they deserve and gives the departments another tool they can use to gauge public opinion.

I am in total agreement with the above comment. There should be some sort of accountability when it comes to rating an officer. People have their own interpretation when it comes to law enforcement and what the laws are.
Granted, the information is public, but this is just one huge place on where to find it period. Look at all of the lude comments that have negative comments towards police officers. It’s insane. It also puts the police officer’s family in danger as well.
Everyone thinks the cops are so terrible and corrupt and out to get them. Then why use them? Why do you call them if you already know that they’re not going to do their job? It can’t be both ways ya know!
