Chinaman’s Chance
Zhi Lin, Arthur Ou, Amanda Ross Ho
March 6 - July 27, 2008
Media Preview: March 6, 10 - 11am
Opening Reception: March 13, 6 - 9pm
The Pacific Asia Museum is presenting a major multi-media exhibition that aims to examine the Chinese American experience, from the days of the construction of the Transcontinental railroad to present day.
Curator Chip Tom considers the viewpoint that while being of Chinese heritage and living in America is unique to each individual, that there is a common thread that contributes to the identities of people of this background. He has chosen to include work by three artists, Zhi Lin, Arthur Ou, and Amanda Ross Ho.
The opening party is free to museum members and a guest, and 10 bucks for non members. The museum will premiere a 30 minute short film “Chinese Ghost Story”, which is a documentary by Dan Boord and Luis Valdovino. There is also a curators tour with Chip Tom on April 26 at 1 pm, who is regarded as one of Los Angeles’ most innovative independent curators.
