This week in the literary world we have a reading with four renown poets and a budding novelist. Bill Gainer, Karen Harryman, Nila Northsun and Conney Williams will be reading from their selected work at Beyond Baroque while Junot Diaz will read from his work at the Hammer Museum.

- BILL GAINER is co-founder of the Nevada County Poetry Series, editor and publisher of R.L. Crow Publications, coauthor of Roxy, and contributor to the doc I Began To Speak, a history of the Sacramento poetry scene.
- KAREN HARRYMAN’s poems have appeared in Alaska Quarterly, Los Angeles Review, Poetry New Zealand, and the Cortland Review. Her first book is Auto Mechanic’s Daughter.
- NILA NORTHSUN’s books of poetry include love at gunpoint; a snake in her mouth; Small Bones, Little Eyes; and Diet Pepsi and Nacho Cheese. She is author of After the Drying Up of the Water: A Tribal History.
- CONNEY WILLIAMS has been published in various journals and anthologies and is author of the collection Leaves of Spilled Spirit from an Untamed Poet

- Junot Díaz’s fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and The Best American Short Stories. His highly-anticipated first novel, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, was greeted with rapturous reviews. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New Jersey, Díaz is a professor of creative writing at MIT.
