Your evening news round up of all those wounded in LA today.

  • Murderer dies, killing leads to other victims - For two years, Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide investigators have worked to identify 47 women whose pictures were taken three decades ago by a Westside photographer later convicted of killing two models. Officials eventually eliminated all but 14 women as potential victims. Of those half a dozen were believed to have been murdered. Detectives always believed that the man who held the key to the case was the photographer William Bradford. Bradford was convicted in 1987 of murdering two of his models and suspected of others. The case is now cold because Bradford died of cancer last week at age 61 at the state prison medical facility. Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Nelson said his detectives were hoping for another interview, convinced that Bradford was not telling all he knew and that he might want a final chance to clear his conscience.
  • Councilman sexually abused family member for 7 years - Oscar Medrano, the former Gardena city councilman who resigned less than five days ago, was formally charged Friday 14, with eight counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, three counts of lewd acts on a child 14 or 15 years old, and one count of continuous sexual abuse. Medrano allegedly molested the girl, who has only been described as a relative, between October 1999 and September 2006.
  • 13-year-old arrested for killing another teen - A 13-year-old boy was in custody on Friday for allegedly shooting at killing Ricardo Rivera Jr., 18 as he stood in the driveway of his home at 9:15pm Thursday. According to police, the suspect approached Rivera on foot and shot him, then ran away. Detectives arrested the teen and booked him at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall. A motive for the crime was not immediately known.

  • Doctors cleared on negliegence in Ritter case - A jury in Glendale has cleared a cardiologist and a radiologist of negligence in the diagnosis and treatment of John Ritter, who died of a torn aorta in 2003. The jurors also found that Ritter was advised by radiologist Matthew Lotysch to follow up with treatment by a physician and that the actor did not do so. In a related finding, the jury decided that Ritter’s failure to pursue that medical consultation was not a cause of his death.
  • Two Women attacked on Cal Poly Pomona Campus - A 21-year-old woman was stabbed Wednesday morning in a second-floor bathroom on campus. The woman had been grabbed from behind and was stabbed in the abdomen with her own pocket knife during a struggle. She is expected to recover. The same day, another woman was walking alone to her car at about 8 p.m. when she was grabbed from behind. A bystander yelled and apparently startled the attacker, who fled. No arrests have been made, but security has been increased. A university spokeswoman said officials do not believe the attacks are related.
  • Two shootings in Wilmington leave 1 dead and 1 wounded - An unidentified gunman was hospitalized in critical condition on Friday following an officer-involved shooting in Wilmington. This shooting took place a mere thirty yards from where police fatally wounded another man during a gunbattle some three hours earlier, authorities said. No officers were hurt in either shooting, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
  • Sketch releases of attempted kidnapper - at 11;50am on March 3rd, in the 13400 block of Dalewood, a 16-year-old girl used a ballpoint pen to stab a man in his face when he grabbed her as she walked home from school in Baldwin Park. Apparently this man has targeted other children in the area as well. On Feb. 7th, a 12-year-old boy was attacked and escaped, and on Feb 25th a 12-year-old girl bite the attacker as he tried to grab her and she escaped. The attacked has been described as Hispanic, in his 40’s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build, balding hair at the top and an unshaven face. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved red plaid shirt and blue jeans torn at the knees. Anyone with information should call (626) 960-1955.
