Ladies and Gentlemen, the Derby Dolls are on fire.
This Doll Factory was packed to capacity, and the Dolls did not disappoint!
We had the 2006 champs Fight Crew versus the 2007 champs the Sirens. Now, honestly, if you were to ask me who the season favorites are, I would not hesitate to say the Sirens are looking mighty powerful. Sure they may have lost a match, but that was pretty much entirely due to their losing their 3 ringers from the match, namely Mila Minute, Kung Pow Tina and Roxy Cotton.
If you’ve been following these match recaps, you’ll know of my infatuation with Mila Minute, but hot damned is she just poetry in motion. She’ll always be my MVP.
If this match taught me one ting, it’s that my suspicion that Fight Crew play dirty is true. While the first half was fairly mellow, Fight Crew did have a couple blatant and nasty fouls, and it was clear they weren’t going to hold any punches back.
And in what seems to be the norm, Tara Armov got ejected from the game by half-time. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a Fight Crew match where she’s lasted ’til the end.
Of course Fight Crew aren’t the only naughty ones, as the Sirens had their fair share of people in the penalty box.
The second half of the game was much more animated, although the sizable 13 point lead by the Sirens at half-time did foreshadow a pretty clear victory.
Also of note was Fight Crew’s Broadzilla taking a nasty spill, requiring her to be escorted off the rink by the medical staff. No word on what injuries she sustained, although we wish her a speedy recovery.
Fight Crew put up a hell of a fight in the second half, but were unable to completely bridge the gap, ending in a Sirens victory of 50-40.
Drew Barrymore was in attendance once again, and this time she brought along gal-pal Cameron Diaz. Will this be the next Hollywood hotspot? We can only hope not.
I can only insist that you get your tickets for the April 12th match RIGHT NOW, as it is absolutely guaranteed to sell out, and you don’t want to miss out on this action.
