This post is the first in a series attempting to capture the lifestyle and feel of LA’s music venues. The small clubs and bars where stars are born, and destroyed. Places where you may be standing 3 feet from a Grammy winner, or simply witnessing an artist convey their passions and pain. I urge you to take one night a month and journey to one of the many internationally known stages in Hollywood, and experience a live show. You just might fall in love with music again.

Killola > Their new record “I am the Messer” was released on ground breaking digital wristbands, along with additional web content, and videos. These images were taken at The Knitting Factory.

The Knife Confession > Just released their debut album “Plane Filled Skies” at The Viper Room in early February. Headlining at The Knitting Factory, Saturday Feb. 23rd, and a staple at The Whisky. They have developed into a contender for nationwide recognition. Led by lead singer Eddie Simon, pictured below playing at The Joint.

The Kyle Van Band > Due to release an album in 6 months, they have been touring the west coast with a sound influenced by Vampire Weekend. The images below were from their V-Day Headliner at The Whisky.

Broke Ass Acoustic > A side Project of Chris Navarette, from Profusion & his new band Ekken Is Dead, has been tearing up 90’s covers of Rage, Sublime, and many others from that era. They play in multiple locations in the South Bay, including Patrick Malloys, and the Lighthouse in Hermosa on a frequent basis.

These last two are from Killola’s video shoot for “Barrel of Donkeys” in Alhambra. To me, these capture what it felt like to be on the set of a rock video shoot.
