- Downtown apartment fire injures 3 - An apartment fire near Staples Center Saturday evening landed three people in the hospital, with one being listed in grave condition and the other two in critical condition. The fire, whose cause was not immediately known, caused $25,000 in damage to the building and $10,000 damage to its contents, d’Lisa Davies of the fire department said.
- Weathergirl bandit surrenders - A 45-year-old woman suspected of carrying out four robberies in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach surrendered to police on Saturday, authorities say. Felicia Allen Jones earned the “Weathergirl Bandit” moniker by talking to bank tellers about the weather, while she handed them notes demanding money. Jones is expected in Federal court on Monday, facing charges of robbery.
- Teenage boy with BB gun shot by police - A teenage boy was shot by San Fernando police who were responding to a disturbance call, on Saturday night and was taken to the hospital, however he did not suffer life-threatening injuries. The teenager approached police with what appeared to be a a handgun. When he refused to drop the weapon and pointed it at them, a police office shot and wounded the teen. The weapon was later confirmed to be a BB gun by investigators.
- Man shot by Anaheim police disappears - Police were called to the scene of a man with a gun and were told a man had been shot, Anaheim police Sgt. Tim Schmidt said. An officer encountered a the gunman moments later, and the two exchanged shots, he said. The suspect, who was wounded, ran with the handgun. No officers were hurt in the incident.
