
A round up of all the recent injuries, murders, car chases and wounded people in the LA area.
- Retired Police Officer suspected of committing suicide - The body of 55-year-old David Henry Richter was found decomposed on or near Rivergrade Road in Irwindale. The cause of death could not be determined in an autopsy, and further tests are pending. It is unclear at this point whether it was a suicide or a murder. He had been reported missing Dec. 21. There was no sign of foul play at his home and an investigation is underway.
- Brother and sister found dead in their home - The bodies of Jacquelyn Savage, 57, and 51-year-old Daniel Savage, where both found dead in seperate bedrooms, Sunday morning by another sibling. Their sister came to pick up their 87-year-old father for an Easter celebration. The father, who has Alzheimer’s disease, was apparently unaware that his children were dead. Amormino says the father is not considered a suspect. Investigators are not sure how the siblings died. Autopsies are scheduled for today.
- Horse killed when wanders into freeway - A horse was struck and killed by a vehicle when a herd of horses wandered onto a dark stretch of the Riverside Freeway before dawn this morning in the Corona area at 3:30am this morning. The CHP said about a dozen horses wandered onto Highway 91. A vehicle struck one of the animals and the rest were rounded up. The driver survived with minor injuries
- Anaheim Police shot and killed man in stand off - At 9:30am Anaheim police shot and killed a man when he confronted two officers in an alleyway. The officers were on routine patrol in the 800 block of South Citron Street. They spotted a man in a white car. The unidentified man, described only as Latino and in his mid-30s, got out of the car and the shooting occurred. No details have been releases on why the shooting occured or the names of those involved. Schmidt described the alley as “high in gang activity and graffiti.”
- Car slams into Post Office Wounding 3 - This afternoon, a woman reported to be over the age of 65, drove her car through the front the Burbank Post Office at 2140 N. Hollywood Way this afternoon, injuring three people. None of the injuries were serious although a 62-year-old man was taken to the hospital after suffering a head injury. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, apparently the driver stepped on the gas thinking it was the brake.
- Apartment complex goes up in flames - A fire took down an apartment complex in Warner city. It took about 200 firefighters just over an hour to extinguish a fire at a five-story condominium complex under construction at Warner Center in Woodland Hills, fire officials said.” Despite original arson speculations it has been confirmed by the the Los Angeles Fire Department blog that the “Fire was ‘accidental,’ sparked by welders torch. Loss being tabulated.”
- Police asking for help for hit and run driver that killed 14 year old boy - Authorities Monday asked for the public’s help in finding a driver who hit and killed a 14-year-old boy. The car they are looking for is an early 2000 model SUV similar to a Ford Explorer, with four doors and tinted windows and was a dark grey-ish color. Anyone with information was urged to call the Montebello police traffic office at (323)887-1337 or (323)887-1353.
- Deadly car accident on the 118 - One person was killed Sunday night in a single-car crash. A car on the north side of the 5 hit the center divider and a passenger was ejected onto the roadway around 11:40 p.m. One person died at the scene. Several other vehicles collided after the initial crash, possibly the result of motorists attempting to avoid the wreckage, he said.
- Pursuit ends in head on collision - A female motorist led police on a brief pursuit in Tustin Monday. Four people were injured during the chase as the allegedly drunk runaway driver drove the wrong way down a street and slammed the stolen SUV head-on into two other vehicles. The crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. near Warner and Red Hill avenues, not long after the driver of the stolen Nissan Pathfinder and fled from a California Highway Patrol officer who tried to pull her over for a traffic violation.The pursuit did not last long as the driver instigated a head-on collision that left the Nissan overturned in the middle of the road.
