
- Lancaster man killed in crash - A 50-year-old Lancaster man was killed when his motorcycle hit the back of a van east of Fair Oaks avenue on the Foothill Freeway in Pasadena. The motorcyclist, who was not name, was going about 50 mph in the No. 2 lane when the minivan pulled into his lane.
- Unrestrained baby survives after being ejected onto 5 freeway - A 9-month-old boy who was not properly restrained in the vehicle was ejected on the 5 freeway after his mother crashed into a guardrail, authorities said. The baby was being treated at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles with moderate injuries. The mother, Yvonne Cabral, 20, was not injured.
- 4 wounded in separate Valley incidents - Four people were wounded Saturday in four separate shootings in the San Fernando Valley, including three shot within one hour, police said. A worker at an auto-detailing business was shot in North Hollywood, and was said to be in critical condition at a local hospital, while 15 minutes later, a young man was shot by two gang members again in North Hollywood who approached him and asked him where he was from. When he replied, “from nowhere,” the two gang members shot him in the upper back as he turned to run, said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Ben Alonso. In Van Nuys, a man was hit twice by gunfire in the upper torso in a drive-by shooting, said Officer Sara Faden, LAPD spokeswoman. Finally, two men in their mid- 20s approached a man on foot and shot him in the stomach in Tujunga on Foothill Boulevard, said LAPD Sgt. Andre Chase.
- “Murder Moratorium” broken after 2 shot to death - At least two people were shot to death, breaking a “murder moratorium” to make the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. One man was shot on his front porch, while another was shot as he stood in an alley, police said. Both shootings may be gang-related.
