Starbucks is feeling the pressure: hyper-saturation just about everywhere, competition between stores, and now even McDonald’s is getting into the upscale coffee game. So after a big brouhaha two months ago to properly train retrain their barristas comes the cryptic email they’ve been sending people about a big event going down at Hollywood and Highland on tomorrow from 11 AM to 2:30 PM.
A tipster over at Eater L.A. claims they’re unveiling their new coffee bean, which is supposed to brew the best coffee ever. Perhaps it’s the elusive crack-caffeine we’ve been hearing so much about.
No word yet on what the event will be, but we’ll be deploying someone in situ to get the skinny on the venti (and yes, I hate myself for making that pun).
Oh, and the fine print states that if you can’t make it to H&H on the fateful day, just hit up any Starbucks “to be part of the exciting celebration” (aka be abducted and brain-washed to become another mindless bean slave). Perhaps this is phase 2 in their plan to forcibly take over the world? Aim for the green helmets, folks.
