theaterLet’s face it: too much cleverness can get cloying. Self-referential humor only functions well when handled in small doses or when handled extraordinarily well. However, when a sharp remark, a sarcastic set-up of a particular scenario, or a lampoon of your greatest pet peeve causes insuppressible laughter than there’s nothing better than a heaping dose of comic brains. Check out Ten Little Indigenous People of America, No Exit, KLUB, References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot, and Cell Phone Funeral (I’ll Text You When I’m Dead) this weekend for surefire shots of wit.

Ten Little Indigenous Peoples of America - You just knew that one day someone would deem the title of Agatha Christie’s famous mystery novel politically incorrect and adjust it accordingly. What you may not have foreseen was a comedic adaptation of the famous murder mystery, which will take place over a nine-week run where one cast member dies each week. Get ready for fun audience participation and plenty of morbid gags.

Runs through March 21st. Fridays at 9 P.M.

No Exit - Written by famous existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre, “No Exit” splendors in the sinful lives of three souls stuck in hell. With this racy, updated take on the classic play, expect a saucy and sexy interpretation of Sartre’s dark and morbid treatise on death.

Through May 27th. Tuesdays at 8 P.M.

KLUB - Think “A Chorus Line” that needs some hardcore antidepressants. Billed as “an existential comedy,” “KLUB” follows the audition process of ten would-be actors and their desire to “make it” in a world where “making it” seems like a futile effort.

April 12th - May 10th. Fridays: 8:00 P.M. Saturdays: 8:00 P.M. and 10:30 P.M.

  • Price: $25.00 (8:00 P.M. performances) $15.00 (10:30 P.M. performances) (Buy Now)

References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot - A surrealist play about (you guessed it) surrealism, romance and art are at the focus of a story about a woman awaiting the return of her husband from war overseas. Exotic, impassioned, and a little bit weird, this seems to be the stuff of which avant-garde theatre is made.

April 10th - May 2nd. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays: 8 P.M.

Cell Phone Funeral (I’ll Text You When I’m Dead) - OMGWTF. If only ppl who txted you were @ ur funeral, what would it b lyk? A play for our phone-addicted generation, “Cell Phone Funeral” shows how a recently-deceased gay man’s family comes together (or doesn’t in many cases) to “honor” the memory of a man who passed after a freak SUV accident.

April 11th - May 17th. Fridays: 8 P.M. and 10 P.M. Saturdays: 8 P.M. and 10 P.M.
