If you had the power to bring back one t.v. show for a few more seasons, what show would you pick?
If you’re a t.v. lover, you’ve surely noticed the irony. It seems like every time you fall in love with a show, it’s canceled after one or two seasons, right? I nearly cried when Showtime decided not to bring back Dead Like Me for a Season 3. I needed to know what my grim reapers were doing. I still think of them sometimes and wonder how a show that good, starring a great actor like Mandy Patinkin could be canned.
Then there’s the genius shows like Firefly, which ran for only 14 episodes but had such a huge following it sparked a movie (Serenity). Or what about Chappelle’s Show? We all know he had his reasons for calling it quits but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to see another season of that.
I put this question to both my mom and my husband. My husband quickly answered Freaks and Geeks, which sadly only ran 1 season, but he wavered a bit between that and Deadwood (3 seasons). My mom didn’t miss a beat before choosing The West Wing. I reminded her that it was on for 7 seasons. She didn’t care. She wants more West Wing and she wants it now.
So, what would you choose? Remember, you have the power to bring back anything, I don’t care if it’s Friends or The Smurfs. Leave a comment and state your demands!

I have to say what happened to Studio 60 no love for this awesome show. The West Wing ran 7 seasons that is a pretty long time considering. Deadwood and John from Cincinnati were some of the best TV every created and I’d give my right leg to get one of these back on. I also wanted to give you props on Firefly / that was one of my all time favorite shows, it is a travesty that they can’t get a spot in todays TV line-up. That show was the shit and the movie was excellent as well, but Firefly needs to be on the tube.

I’m with your hubby. I loved Freaks and Geeks. So, I know this show was on for a really long time but, I could have kept watching Sex and the City until Brady went to college.

Why, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, of course! Yes, I know it ran for seven seasons (props to your mom and The West Wing), but what better series to be brought back from the dead?

I agree with the freaks and Geeks. We were just getting to know the characters (Bill for President)Look what Apatow has done since. It woulda’ been awsome.

I want Jerri Blank back on the air…Strangers with Candy was the best comedy in recent history to hit the airwaves. Here are some potential episodes: Jerri gets abducted by aliens, Jerri finds out she was aborted, Jerri has gas…to name a few.

Freaks and Geeks was a great show, but I liked it’s follow-up “Undeclared” even more. It had a lot of the F and G cast members, plus an inspiring comedic performance from Loudon Wainright III as the main characters father. No one is crying for Apatow now, but I would like to have seen that show last a little longer.
However, if I had to pick only one show to come back from the dead…that’s easy: Quantum Leap. Damn, that was a great show!

Firefly! My sons had to practically force me to watch it (on DVD long after it went off) but ended up totally hooked. Sadly, I was really disappointed in the movie Serenity. At least I’ve got the theme song as my ringtone…!

Herman’s Head. Does anyone remember Herman’s Head? My high school boyfriend and I watched it every week (the one season I think it was on). I loved Herman.

I agree with Rox–Sex and the City was high quality from beginning to end & you can’t find anything like it on TV right now. I was a big fan of Ed–great cast & I felt it was really coming together when they killed it. Popular was an awesome show–really funny and strange.

Sex and the City for sure! Five seasons (or whatever) just was not enough. I also liked Ed, I felt it was not given much of a chance.
What about Six Feet Under??? Although the series ended perfectly, I still would have liked another season or two.

I would love to see the HBO show “ROME” come back. What a bummer. They did a great job dramatizing the lives of Julius and Augustus Caesar. After “Six Feet Under”, “Rome” became my addiction. Too bad it was so costly to produce.

OMG Six Feet Under… I saw how they all died in the end… but it still wasn’t enough! I continued to want more! Sex and the City… fo sho’. Jeremiah came on Showtime and it had Luke Perry as the main man, but it was super addictive. I mainly just hate it when my summer shows go off…. or take too long to come back on! Damn you networks! Why am I so hooked?
