Where does one go to see Dueling Pianos, enjoy speciality drinks, get rewarded for acting out, and have a great time in general. Well if you are hip to such things, Hollywood is the place. However, to be more specific you might want to look smack dab in the middle of Universal Studios. For it is there that you will find Howl At The Moon.
With over 14 locations in the US, Howl At The Moon has been serving up drinks, an awesome atmosphere, and crazy musical shenanigans ever since 1990. Much to the delight of it’s customers. I recently had the chance to visit this local hot spot and was able to enjoy all that it had to offer. “Recently”,meaning my hangover is still fresh. Don’t worry, unlike Mel Gibson, I took the liberty of finding a responsible designated driver. Depending on which night you arrive there are themes ranging form Karaoke, College Night, and my personal favorite, Totally Way Back Wednesdays which features the 80’s all over again. Fun, fun and more fun is usually whats being served up at this rocking establishment, and they have plenty of it. If you and your friends can’t have a good time here, then your soul must be deeply troubled.
Overlooking the bright neon signs of Universal Citywalk, the seating area is spacious but fills up quickly. There’s also a large leaning area that looks out onto the main floor, perfect for setting your drink on and nabbing some quick elbow room. Everything in the bar is set up to face the stage that houses two large pianos and a host of other musical instruments that get well played throughout the night. The band consistently keeps things going with local favorites and special request. Not to mention, some unique songs of their own that always encourages audience participation and onstage mockery that more often then not usually leads to free drinks.
Speaking of that, be on the lookout for different colored and numbered poker chips. These handy little items are good at the bar for all kinds of liquid yumminess, including some of the most interesting jello shots you will ever come across. The ratio of guys to girl is evenly mixed with most coming dressed to impress, a small but important fact that makes this watering hole even more enjoyable.
So if you’re looking for the ideal place to celebrate your birthday, hold a special event, or just want to hang out with friends; Howl At The Moon is definitely worth a look. Just don’t forget to bring along somebody who will navigate you home safely.
