My niece Fiona came home for Spring Break recently. She’s a freshman at UC Santa Cruz majoring in “she knows not what yet”. However, instead of cavorting around and flashing body parts in the normal spring break venues she spent a day with me taking photos around one of my favorite spots in LA, San Pedro.

She really enjoyed the views from Angels Gate Recreation Center. She was especially taken with the artistically beautiful colors and angles of the Korean Friendship Bell.
Her favorite place was Point Fermin Park with it’s views of ships leaving the harbor and where she found parrots roosting in the trees next to the lighthouse. Later on she captured the shot of the large merchant ship next to the sail boats located in the marina.
This quarter she’s on the school’s paper as a writer and photographer. I hope this will inspire her to be a contributor to LA CityZine when she comes home for the summer!
