There’s a war raging against one of LA’s most beloved dining institutions. Whether you call it a taco truck, a roach coach or delicious on wheels, current legislation is under way that would make it illegal for them to spend more than one hour in the same spot.
Kind of defeats the whole purpose, no?
Nevermind the fact that not all “mobile food vendors” are even just “taco trucks”. Some are even sustainable, local organic yumminess. Why on earth would you want to discourage that?
Fortunately, people have been mobilizing in support. And we’re starting to make progress! An organization calling itself Save Our Taco Trucks is out there, getting people to act and spreading the word. They’re trying to raise 5,000 signatures by May 1st, so do your part to keep this tradition alive! After all, even the Pulitzer-prize-winning LA Weekly food critic Jonathan Gold is coming out in support for them. You know this must something worth saving.
