If there’s one thing the Silverlake / Echo Park area isn’t lacking, it’s quirky underground organizations.
Well here’s yet another chance to do your part and get out in your neighborhood:
The annual Siverlake Fruit Forage, put on by Fallen Fruit, will be going underway this Wednesday night (April 30th), from 6 to 7:30PM. You’ll go around picking ripe fruit, meeting locals and just generally having a nice night out will helping the community.

Wow! What a great idea. One year I was in charge of my parents yard as they went on vacation…they had several fruit trees bearing too much fruit for me too handle. Many of the fruit fell on the ground and rotted. I would have loved it if I could have invited people over to pick the fruit and of course let ‘em keep it for their help!

I heard about Fallen Fruit a couple of years ago - I think they even have maps on their site of where the best public fruit is available.
