The Frantic exemplifies the fact that there is no age that defines how old you have to be in order to make timeless music. With an average age of 18, The Frantic seem to have nothing but confidence radiating from them. Their debut album, Audio & Murder, is one that will stay in the minds of many for years to come.
“I miss those late late nights in the summer!” Shouts vocalist Kyle Dee in “Frantic Summer.” One thing that I used to hate about music was how so many songs always talked about love. In the case of these songs, The Frantic sing about missing fun in the sun, rock n’ roll, and Hollywood. Amidst the punk/rock Rancid-like music, listeners feel the need to sing-along to the choruses, bobbing their heads up and down in agreement.
The Frantic’s talent spreads across different genres. Aside from the upbeat songs, the band strips down to almost nothing in “Movin’ Along”, a ballad with only vocals, an acoustic guitar, and drums. This shows that artists don’t need to stick to certain categories in order to uphold their “street cred.”
I started listening to the Frantic with no expectations, but I was completely blown away - Audio & Murder was so different to the music I was used to. If you’re interested in surprises, then the Frantic is for you!
