  • Principal fails to report child abuse case -An LA Unified School District principal and assistant principal were each charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly failing to report a sexual relationship between a student and a substitute teacher. South East High School principal Jesus I. Angulo, 35, and assistant principal Maria Sotomayor, 36, allegedly knew that a substitute teacher had sex with a female student last March, but failed to report it. The substitute teacher, Jesus Salvador Saenz, 30, was arrested in March and is awaiting trial on a felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. If convicted as charged, Angulo and Sotomayor face up to six months in jail and a possible fine of up to $1,000.
  • Man arrested in death of business owner - A man who allegedly killed the owner of a fortune-telling business when he firebombed her Hollywood store was in custody Thursday in Arizona. Frank Siganoff, 24, allegedly killed Rose Marco, 57, on Sept. 3, 2007, at her business in the 5300 block of West Sunset Boulevard. Siganoff turned himself in Monday night at the Maricopa County sheriff’s facility in Phoenix, Ariz. According to police, the motive for the crime “was related to an ongoing dispute between two families within the Hollywood Gypsy community.”

  • Pursuit ends in Krispy Kreme Crash - A pursuit suspect was critically injured Thursday when he lost control and crashed into a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop in Orange. Three people were ejected when the SUV crashed around 2:45 a.m. The male driver apparently lost control of the SUV, which rolled over at least three times before crashing into the drive-thru area of the doughnut shop. It was not immediately known why police were chasing the SUV or where the pursuit began. The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition and two passengers were hospitalized with moderate injuries. No one inside the Krispy Kreme was injured.
  • Mother and 3-year-old daughter missing for 5 days - Police Thursday asked for the public’s help in finding 24-year old mother, Trang Nguyen’s and her 3-year-old daughter Valentine. They have been missing for five days. They were last seen leaving their home in the 3200 block of Fern Hollow Drive last Friday morning. Keith Vietnam, 49, the woman’s husband, told authorities he has no idea where his wife might be. Nguyen, a Vietnamese native, has no known friends or family in the United States and speaks only limited English. “She has no driver’s license, no means of transportation and no access to money,” Pawluczenko said. Anyone with information about the two was asked to contact Corona police Detective Dan Neagu at (951) 739-4916.
