Death Cab For Cutie So it’s the week after Coachella. My feet still hurt, my head remains nicely bronzed and some of my friends may still be stuck in the parking lot. Due to the work god’s putting the Hammer of Thorr down on me upon my return I was unable to write a proper review of my Saturday in the desert. But for those who were wondering: In brief: Dredg was great; Devotchka was good but out of place; Death Cab for Cutie played with every ounce of energy they had; MGMT was interesting; Kraftwerk bored me; Portishead was a revelation; Flogging Molly was the most fun I think I’ve ever had at Coachella (big up to everyone who joined me at the front of the stage); and I left before Prince (I know he was amazing, I just didn’t have any interest). So now that all that is out of the way, it’s time to focus on the future. The not-so-distant future. Here is a list of on sales for this weekend:

  • The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are heading back to Orange County for the first time in, umm, like forever. The reunited Bosstones will co-headline a show at the Pacific Amphitheater at the O.C. Fair with fellow Bostonians The Dropkick Murphys on July 20th. Tickets are $39.50 (ouch!) and go on sale Saturday morning at 10am. As usual, the tickets include admission to the Fair, so feel free to pet the pigs and eat a deep fried artichoke before rocking out.
  • Also just announced at the Fair, Christian artists Mercy Me will headline a show with The Dave Crowder Band at the Pacific Amp on July 23rd. Tickets are on sale 10am today and run from $25-$55.
  • Seth Cohen’s favorite band (I’ve been on an “O.C.” kick recently, don’t judge) Death Cab for Cutie will play the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on June 23rd. Rouge Wave will open the show. Tickets are $40 and go on sale Saturday at 10am.
  • Speaking of “The O.C.”, Rooney will play the House of Blues Anaheim on July 20th. Tickets are on sale now and will set you back around $13.50.
  • Coming off their recent Coachella performance, Rilo Kiley will play their biggest headlining gig to date when the band occupies the Greek Theater on June 18th. Tickets are $33.50 and are on sale at 10 am on Saturday.
  • If you’re attempting to buy your Greek Theater tickets in bulk (does Cost Co. sell tickets yet?), tickets go on sale Sunday at 10 am for John Mellencamp and Lucinda Williams on July 31st. Tickets are between $47.50 and $85.
  • War Stories, one of the best unsigned and unheralded bands on the planet, have announced a show at the Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest on May 22nd. Tickets are $5 and are on sale at the door. Don’t miss this show or you will be sorry.
  • Bloc Party will play the Glass House in Pomona on July 28th with Does It Offend You, Yeah? opening. Tickets are $26 and go on sale Friday at the stroke of noon (so after your quick draw gunfight, fell free to drop by and get tickets). If you just can’t wait to buy Bloc Party tickets, they are also playing the Mayan on July 29th and tickets go on sale Friday at 10am.
  • Jaguar Love, which features members of the Blood Brothers and Pretty Girls Make Graves also play the Glasshouse on May 25th. Tickets are $12 and are on sale now. Also on sale this weekend:
  • Beirut at the Wiltern on May 31st. Tickets on sale Friday at noon, $25.
  • Kate Nash at the Henry Fonda on May 14th. Tickets on sale now, $20.
  • Wolf Parade at the Henry Fonda on July 18th and 19th. Tickets on sale Saturday at 10am, $23.
  • Cartel at the Roxy Theater on June 26th. Tickets on sale now, $15.
