It’s good to know, you’re not that special. That’s right, living in California is one of the least special places to live in the US. Our population has topped 38 million making it the home of one out of every eight Americans. No wonder the 405 is such a mess.
The state Department of Finance estimates that California topped the 38 million benchmark by nearly 50,000 residents on January 1.
The state’s population is up by nearly half a million people, or more than one percent, from a year ago.
It’s about the same population as the country of Poland.
The department also says Los Angeles, the nation’s second largest city, now has more than 4 million residents, which is about half as many as New York City.
So when your friends ask you about LA and if they should move here, no matter what you feel, tell them it’s horrible and to stay away.
