We reported a little while back about the new venture by British supermarket giant Tesco called “Fresh & Easy.” Think of it as a combination of Trader Joe’s and a cafeteria.
While people have been having a hard time figuring out just what the hell the places is, it would appear the general assumption is that it’s “a British thing,” because they’ll be greatly increasing the number of English products the store carries as a result of customer requests.
They’ll also be stocking a lot more ready-to-cook meats (especially sausages?), based on feedback.
Aside from the products, they’ll also be sprucing up their signage, which is about as exciting as a corporate office (see exciting photo).
So we’ll see if these improvements will be able to help the ailing fledgling chain, or if the whole concept simply doesn’t translate for the US market.
