The Arcade Theatre at the Pullman MuseumJust like at the movies, it can be difficult to find excellent theater opportunities in the pre-summer period. However, Los Angeles never really faces a dearth of theater-going opportunities for those serious enough to delve into different neighborhoods. Read more for information about the upcoming performances of Teen Girl, Trying, Kindgom Come, and An Afternoon with Jason Robert Brown throughout the LA area!

Teen Girl - A retro throwback to the 1960s, “Teen Girl,” nevertheless, captures the turbulent essence of what it means to be a teenager. When teen girl Susan’s mom goes out of town, what else could ensue but partying? Expect a good dose of rollicking sex, drugs, and hormones.

May 15th - June 21st. Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays: 8 P.M.

Trying - Based on the playwright’s, Joanna McClelland’s, real-life experiences with U.S. Attorney General Francis Biddle in the 1960s, the LA Times calls “Trying’s” two-person shows one of the best theater experiences of the year. Insights into international political relations, “Trying” offers portraits of the influence one man can have upon world events.

May 15th-May 25th. Thursdays & Fridays: 8 P.M. Sundays: 2 P.M. & 7 P.M.

Kingdom Come - If you, too, called “BS” at Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto,” rejoice for the Unknown Theater’s production of “Kingdom Come!” While “Kingdom Come” uncovers the history of the Inca Empire, rather than the Mayans, it similarly shows ancient society’s challenges with imperialism and the fall of an era.

May 16th - June 28th. Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays: 8 P.M. Sundays: 6 P.M.

An Afternoon with Jason Robert Brown - Fans of contemporary understated musicals “The Last Five Years” and “Songs for a New World” will salivate at the opportunity to hear “the next Stephen Sondheim,” also known as Jason Robert Brown, speak at Pepperdine University’s Smothers Theater as part of the Festival of New American Musicals. Hear him speak about his experiences as a Broadway composer and what inspires his story and songwriting.

Sunday, May 18th: 2:00 P.M.
