May 16th, 2008 Written by: Mali· No Comments

artwalk08-05-15This Saturday and Sunday Venice will turn into a haven for artists, sculptures, architects and more. You will have the chance to explore artists’ studios, bid on original art, tour spectacular homes, sample great food, drink, dance, watch, and enjoy. All of proceeds for the weekend will benefit Venice Family Clinic which provides free, quality health care to people in need.

Saturday: We begin with “The Newly Hatched Homes of Venice”

Meet the architects and developers involved in Venice’s freshest new residences. Please note that some of the homes are nearing completion - guests are advised to wear flat shoes.

Tickets: $75 per person, self-driving (bicycles encouraged). Architects will be on-site at each home to discuss the project and answer questions.

  • Radziner Residence
    Marmol Radziner & Associates, AIA
Completed in 2007, the residence challenges conceptions about indoor and outdoor space and investigates concepts of mass, void, light, proportion, and materiality.
  • Nuss Mashaal Residence
    Warren Wagner, AIA, W3 Architects
Part of a series of two-story passive solar designs for Los Angeles, this recently completed residence of modern sustainable design demonstrates the integration of solar and sustainable technologies into the highest level of architecture.
  • Vienna Way Prefab Residence
Jennifer Siegal, Founder and Principal, Office of Mobile Design
The newest project from OMD merges responsible design with precision crafting, creating a residence from four modular prefab structures with repurposed existing structures, designed around a courtyard inspired by the LA climate.
  • Palms Boulevard Residence
    Daly Genik Architects
An existing house and garage are transformed into colorful garden lanterns that enfold a shared courtyard, entirely wrapped with a perforated metal skin to provide sun shades and privacy. Winner of 2007 AIA/LA NEXT LA Award.
  • Marco Place Residence
Conception, Design and Construction by Eddington Design
This newly constructed “dark green” residence employs many new pilot technologies under the LEED program, aiming for Platinum Certification with features such as a living wall of plants to clean and detoxify the air.
