If you like dogs and charity and you have nothing to do this Sunday, you might want to stop by Walk for the Underdog, a huge non-profit charity event at the La Brea Tar Pits.
Walk for the Underdog is a sponsored, hour-long walk for rescued pups and their owners. Similar to an event like Race for the Cure, participants seek monetary sponsorships from friends and acquaintences, then donate 100% of the proceeds to 30 area shelters and rescue organizations.
Even if you don’t participate in the walk or sponsor anyone, there’s still a lot to see. Hundreds of dogs will be available for adoption. A plethora of vendors will be selling things to dogs and their owners, and a number of prizes will be raffled off (including a trip for two to the Caribbean!). Their website also promises “dog related entertainment” and “surprise celebrity guests,” either of which could be highly entertaining, amusingly bizarre, or any combination of both.
If you have a pooch, clip on his leash, pocket his doo-doo bags and bring him along for what will undoubtedly be a butt-sniffing, leg-lifting doggy orgy from his wildest dreams.
Check their website for more info on volunteering, parking, vendors, and charity info.
