thater08-05-22Sick of LA? Take a theatrical trip to another center, whether it’s Manhattan, Renaissance Italy, or futuristic Anywhere USA. Well there are a number of plays including The Hiding Place, I Gelosi (The Jealous Ones), 7 x 7, and Natural Selection that will take you outside of Los Angeles without ever having to leave the city! Keep reading for more information on times, tickets, locations, and more!

The Hiding Place - A quirky romantic comedy from the writer of the Tony-award winning musical hit “Avenue Q,” Jeff Whitty, expect a satirical, youthful production satirizing literary and art culture in mid-90’s Manhattan. While “The Hiding Place” won’t show how everyone’s a little bit racist or feature any Gary Coleman cameos, anything by Whitty should please and provide some bittersweet insights into relationships.

May 23rd-June 8th. Fridays & Saturdays: 8 P.M. Sundays: 2 P.M.

I Gelosi (The Jealous Ones) - No need to wait for the upcoming Renaissance fair because “I Gelosi” brings a theatrical representation of 16th century theater to the comfort of an air-conditioned 21st century setting. The show follows the story of an Italian theater troupe that rose from poverty to entertain aristocrats and refined society. With masks, costumes, and music from the era, enjoy experiencing the period without the horror of seeing overweight women shoved into Renaissance corsets and suffering from outdoor heart stroke.

May 23rd-June 14th. Fridays & Saturdays: 8 P.M.

7 x 7 - A festival of short plays from upcoming playwrights, Robert Factor, Amy D’Allesandro, Eve Sigall, Tim Ryan Meinelschmidt, T.Y. Joe, W. Colin McKay and Vince McKewin. Shorts always prove a refreshing change of pace and, hey, you can say you saw ‘em first.

May 23rd-June 9th. Fridays & Saturdays: 8 P.M. Sundays: 7 P.M.

Natural Selection - Fast forward to the future with a cast of kooky characters who must replace a deceased Native American performer at a “Multicultural”-themed amusement park. Sound crazy? You bet. In a world plagued by global warming, incessant bloggers, and viruses, get ready for a satiric vision of America’s future.

May 23rd-June 29th. Fridays & Saturdays: 8 P.M. Sundays: 3 P.M.
