ticketsonsale08-05-22So as I sit in my cubicle, staring through the window at a cloudy, wet world I have two thoughts swimming through my mind. 1. Thank god Monday is a holiday. 2. Thank god today is Friday.

I’m sure most of you share the same sentiment. So before we all run out of our various places of work last-day-before-summer-vacation style, let us rejoice at some ticket on sales this weekend. This is a good batch so let us get started:

The annual Hootenanny festival has been announced, and this years line-up holds a few shocking surprises for it’s fans. First off: who would have thought that Mike Ness would swoop in to headline the festival? Seems like Hootenanny is going a different direction this year. Hopefully, there isn’t too much backlash. Also throwing a kink in the usual fare are Tiger Army, Throw Rag, The Cadilliac Tramps and Royal Crown Revue. It looks like Hootenanny is taking some chances and has thrown it’s fan a curveball this year…

Ok, if you haven’t noticed the sarcasm dripping off the page, this is pretty much the same line-up that has been playing Hootenanny the last decade. I think either Mr. Ness or Social D has played the festival every year since it’s inception. Really no surprises. Strong line-up though. You should check out Throw Rag if you’ve never seen them, they put on a helluva show. The show is being held at Oak Canyon Ranch in Irvine on July 5th and tickets are on sale now for around $40.

Some pretty damn solid indie rock shows are going on sale this weekend. Canadian indie poppers Stars play an outdoor show at the John Anson Amphitheater on August 25th. Tickets are on sale now and are $24.

London’s Hot Chip will take the ConcordBusiness Class on Virgin Airways to Los Angeles to play the Wiltern on September 21st and 22nd. Tickets are $27 and are on sale now.

New York City’s beloved The Hold Steady sing songs about Minneapolis when they play the Avalon on August 25th. Tickets are $20 and, yes, are on sale now.

Brand New genius frontman Jesse Lacey will play a solo acoustic show on July 21st at the Roxy. Tickets are on sale today and are $13.

Post-punk screamers Finch will co-headline the Glasshouse with Scary Kids Scaring Kids on July 19th and 20th. Opening those shows will be Foxy Shazam, who I heavily suggest getting there early for. Tickets are $18 and go on sale today.

    Also, in non-paragraph format:

    • Emmylou Harrisat the Pacific Amphitheater on July 29th. Tickets are $50 and go on-sale tomorrow at 10am.
    • Alejandro Fernandez at the Gibson Amphitheater on September 11th. Tickets are $65-$250 (yowzers!) and go on sale today.
    • MXPX and Lagwagon will co-headline the House of Blues- Anaheim on October. Tickets are $20 and on sale now.
    • Johnny Lang will play House of Blues- Hollywood on July 29th. Tickets are on sale today and are $40.
    • We are Scientists play the El Rey Theater on July 1st. Tickets are $18 and go on sale Saturday at 10am.

Phew, that was a lot. Happy Memorial Day people, and good luck paying off all of these concert tickets!
