You don’t want to miss Thrice with Special Guests Circa Survive, Pelican and Aushua playing at The Avalon in Hollywood, this Thursday (May 29th) and Friday (30th).
Tickets are$20, though sold-out. Some day-of-show tickets may be released but I’m not promising anything. You can also find some on Craiglist.
Five Reasons You Should Go:
1. One of nation’s most popular and acclaimed post-punk rock bands, Thrice is touring in support of two recent double CD releases The Alchemy Index Vol. I and II, and The Alchemy Index Vol. III and IV.
2. The band puts on a very strong live show full of both power and complexity. This is not your sisters punk-pop screamers, instead it is the thinking man’s version of the hardcore/ punk scene in the vein of The Deftones and Queens of the Stone Age.
3. Circa Survive is another thinking man’s artist who sell out almost every locale they visit in support of their Billboard Top 40 album On Letting Go.
4. Pelican is one of the great underrated artists in today’s musical landscape. Without the luxury of vocals, the Chicago post-metal instrumental quartet instead rely on their instruments to paint the thematic elements of their songs. Definitely a band to get there early for.
5. From what I remember there is an In-N-Out in walking distance for your post concert munchie needs.

Great Article! I love Thrice and Circa Survive, and I’m excited to see Pelican!
I used to work at Capitol Records (across the street) and I don’t remember an In-N-Out, but I do remember Al Wazir, Subway, Chinese food, and lots of other places!
