LA Wounded: Cessna Crashes, 5 Dead in Black Clothes, Shooting

  • Cessna crashes near airport - A small plane has crashed into a residential between two houses near the Big Bear airport in the San Bernardino Mountains. The pilot, identified as Audra Kramer, suffered only minor injuries including cuts to her face and hands. She also says she has pain in her neck. No one was injured on the ground. Gregor says the plane had tried to land at the Big Bear airport but wind blew her off course. The plane struck power lines as it crashed, but there was no fire.
  • 5 people found dead were all wearing black - A sheriff’s spokeswoman says the five family members found dead and decomposing in a home in an upscale, gated community were all wearing black clothing. The bodies — three generations of the same Turkish-American family –were found last Sunday when two brothers broke into the house after not hearing from them for some time. Investigators believe the bodies went undiscovered for two to three weeks. The dead were mechanical engineer and expert trial witness Manas Ucar, 58; his wife, Margrit, 48; their twin 21-year-old daughters, Margo and Grace, and the family’s maternal grandmother, 72-year-old Fransuhi Kesisoglu.
  • Girl killed in Highland park identified - Authorities this morning identified a 14-year-old Highland Park girl who died Tuesday after allegedly being shot by a 16-year-old gang member, as Cynthia Perez of Los Angeles. She died of a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. Perez was shot while riding in the back seat of her parent’s SUV in Highland Park on Monday when the assailant opened fire on another motorist, Fabian Aguirre, 33. Both vehicles were at York Blvd. and North Avenue 64, waiting for the light to change and Perez was shot in the head. Police had not released the identity of the 16-year-old in custody this morning.

  • Two men sought after sexual assault in Torrance - Authorities sought two men on Wednesday in connection with the the sexual assault of a female student on the campus of El Camino College in Torrance .The woman was attacked about 5:30 p.m. Friday near the east entrance to the women’s physical education complex at the school in the 16000 block of Crenshaw Blvd. The men accosted the woman, threatened her and forced her to walk inside, where one man sexually assaulted her while the other man served as a lookout. The men escaped afterward. The first man was described as black, 18-20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build and short black hair. The second man was described as black, 18-22 years of age, with a light complexion and short hair.
  • Fullerton teacher arrested on gun and drug charges - Gregory Abbott, 31, of Placentia has taught history at the school for seven years, was arrested after police found illicit drugs and an unloaded shotgun in his car in the school parking lot. Police said they made the arrest after receiving an anonymous phone tip that he was selling drugs. The caller contacted police at about 10 a.m. Tuesday to report that he had purchased drugs from a teacher at the high school named Abbott who kept a gun in his car. Inside, they found the shotgun, some prescription drugs and marijuana packaged for sale.
