
- Camera catches hit-and-run driver kill 9-year-old boy - Jesus Sanchez was crossing Ford Blvd. at 12:04 a.m. on Sunday when a car traveling north hit him and then ran a red light to make a left onto Cesar Chavez Ave. The car was traveling 45 to 50 mph in the 30 mph zone. The driver, who could not be identified, was recorded on a nearby business’ surveillance video. The vehicle appeared to be a small early- 2000s red car with tinted windows and a rear spoiler. On the surveillance video, the driver “hits the brakes prior to hitting him, but never stops, just continues on his way, runs the red light, and takes off,” Investigator Padilla said. The injured boy was taken to LA County-USC Medical Center, where he died. Anyone with information can call (323) 980-4600.
- One year-old bitten by a pit bull - A one-year-old boy was in critical condition today in Childrens Hospital Los Angeles after he was bitten by a pit bull in Pacoima. The boy’s mother called 911 after at least one of the family’s two pit bulls bit her son on the cheek. LA firefighters responded to 13000 block of Louvre Street at 11:06 a.m. and used an extinguisher to spray the dog so that paramedics could reach the child and treat him. The boy was airlifted by a helicopter. After the attack, the dogs were in the home’s front yard and animal control officials were en route to the scene.
- Father and son held on molestation charges - Ricardo Sanchez, 46, and his son Ruben Sanchez, 19, were arrested Monday and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and lewd and lascivious acts. The two are being held at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga; Ricardo Sanchez on $250,000 bail and Ruben Sanchez on $100,000 bail. Redlands police began investigating Ricardo Sanchez on May 13 when a female family member reported being sexually abused by him as a child. During the investigation, two additional family members came forward. There are also allegation that he molested a family member who is still a minor. Police believe that in 2006 and 2007, Ruben Sanchez molested a child who was a client at his grandmother’s family day-care center in her home, which accepted children from infants to 12 years old.
- Bees attack boy and kill dog - The five boys and the dog, a Boxer named Rocky, were hiking in Stoney Point Park in Chatsworth when a swarm of bees sting and the boys sending one of them to the hospital and killed the dog. One of the boys who tried to pick up the dog and carry it to safety was stung “as many as 200 times,” said Chris Jones, one of the boys father.”He carried the dog as far as he could and then collapsed,” Jones said. The injured teen, Brian Magbitang, was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was given pain medication and released.
- Man found in pool hospitalized - A 46-year-old man found face down in a swimming pool in South Los Angeles was taken to a hospital late Tuesday. The man was found in 3 feet of water and was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood. His condition was not immediately available, but police said this morning that the man was alive and that the incident was considered an accident.
- Downtown bus hits pedestrian - A Metro bus struck and slightly injured a pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday. Paramedics responded to the 1100 block of East Seventh Street about 8:25 a.m. took the 53-year-old man to a hospital for examination of minor injuries. The accident was currently under investigation.
