News and Poll: What Do You think of Hillary Now?

June 4th, 2008 Written by: Mali· No Comments

hillaryclinton08-06-05Finally! The Democrat’s are on the same side. No more self-deprecation. They can finally get it together to fight their opponent instead of each other. Barack Obama is officially the democratic candidate for the 2008 presidential election and his first order of business is to gather his party together. Already, Obama has began to reach out to supporters of Hillary Clinton.

Step 1: Get Hillary’s supporters on his side:

Obama accepted his win over Hillary with graciousness and at the beginning of the speech he made last night for the AIPAC audience, he acknowledged Clinton for “the outstanding race that she has run.” Calling the New York senator “a true friend of Israel” and “a great senator . . . who made history alongside me for the last 16 months,” Obama said that he was “very proud to have competed against her.”

Clinton’s response seemed to be a bit on the fence about whether or not she was in full support of Obama.

Clinton, who next spoke to the AIPAC audience, said that Obama “understands what is at stake here,” and that it was “an honor to contest these primaries” with him.

Notice how she didn’t say “with him” at the end of that sentence, it was added on. She’s not really saying it’s an honor to have run against him, just an honor to have run. Although she seems to understand the situation she still has yet to come out and support Obama or to concede her nomination.

“Let me be very clear,” said Clinton… “I know that Sen. Obama will be a good friend to Israel” and will “say to the world that America’s position is unchanging . . . that the United States stands with Israel now and forever.”

Noting that the next president “will inherit grave problems,” Clinton said… McCain “will continue the same policies” in the Middle East.

“America needs a new beginning in our foreign policy,” she said, arguing that failed policies in Iraq and elsewhere have cost the United States influence and “strategic leverage.”

“We cannot stand strongly with Israel,” she said, “if we are not strong everywhere else.”

She is right, we cannot fight them unless we come together. Getting the Republicans and Democrats together is one thing, but the start of that has to be the Democratic party coming together, and she needs to admit defeat and do so in front of the public. We need to come together and now is the time, so Hillary, stop with the foreplay and get down to business. Concede the nomination and get behind what you represent, the Democratic party which is now represented by Barack Obama, not you.

The Democratic party cannot beat McCain without the Hillary supporters. Everyone seems to understand this but Hillary. At the start of this race I actually supported her, but now I just see her acting like a child. But what do you think?

Whose talk show would you rather appear on?
