  • Woman killed by Metro Train - A 40-year-old woman who was struck by a Metro Purple Line train shortly before 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Westlake station died later, after being given CPR and hospitalized. Witnesses say it appeared that she intentionally jumped. The woman was in full cardiac arrest when she was found on the station’s electrified third rail Fire spokesman Cecil Manresa said, as reported by the Associated Press.
  • Truck driver survives deadly crash - A driver whose truck flipped off the elevated Interstate-210 interchange and landed on its back bursting in to flames, survived the crash with serious injuries to one leg and other minor to moderate injuries. The driver managed to kick out his windows and throw himself out of the window. He dropped about 30 feet down into the storm drain and then crawled up back the hill, according to witnesses. His truck had burst into flames by then. Another driver, Sam DiGiovanna, a training chief at Glendale’s Verdugo Fire Academy was driving to work when he spotted the accident. DiGiovanna called fire officials and then worked on stabilizing the 28-year-old man, whose name was not released.   • Encino crash leaves 2 injured, 2 dead - A two-vehicle crash that took place at Venture Boulevard and Densmore Avenue just after 2 a.m. on Saturday left two people injured and two dead. The victims’ names have been withheld until their family is notified, police said.
