Well, in case you’re like me and don’t watch / own a TV, you’ve probably missed out on the latest food scare. Apparently some tomatoes have tested positive for Salmonella.
OH GOD EVERYONE PANIC!
::whew::
So if you’re heading to McDaonlads or Taco Bell, you’ll no why your food tastes a little less natural: they’ve outright omitted tomatoes from their menus until this all blows over.
In the meantime, people are discouraged from eating raw red plum, Roma or round red tomatoes, as they may very well be harboring some nasty little critters.
Now the warning does only apply to raw tomatoes that are no longer on the vine. No word yet on what magical properties tomato vines posses that ward away infection.

Yikes! Salmonella is not pretty. I’m gonna miss my Romas!

Man. $3.24 wasted at Trader Joe’s for those salad tomatoes this evening. No WONDER all the tomatoes were gone! I wish there would be some Jetson-like wristband or something that delivered important news for those of us who are too busy/don’t care to watch TV - especially since most local news news is wedged somewhere between biased political commentary and Britney Spears.
